Biblegod loved us enough to save us from our sins by sending his son/coming down himself to die for us to save us from sin, a sort of divine inoculation because of our ancestors infecting us with the sin virus with it's default burn in hell position because they ate from the tree of knowledge and therefore condemned every human being.
OK.
If he loved us so much, knowing the choice Adam and Eve would make to eat of the fruit, condemning millions to hell, did he create the tree in the first place?
Because it's a fairytale, a myth written by Bronze Age tent dwellers to explain why things go wrong more than they go right, and to make people behave and do what Biblegod/the males who wrote the words, tell them on pain of eternal torture.

BECAUSE IT SAYS
You get Christians saying that atheists/freethinkers are immoral because they don't believe in a god that lays down morals.
I say; so if it wasn't for your belief that Biblegod is watching over you you'd go on a kill rampage or rape small animals or eat babies? That without the invisible man in the sky you'd be a more misanthropic killer than Carl Panzram?
Thanks, but I'll keep my morals evolved to make society exist. ie, if everyone went around stealing and raping and hitting people on the head, there would be no cooperation and therefore no society.

A THEOLOGICAL QUERY
If Biblegod is the only way to heaven, and he loved us enough to die painfully for us to see we joined him in paradise if only we believe in him and confess this belief, why on earth didn't he form enough evidence that can be studied by science that contradicts the Bible? Why did he make it so any more-than-casual observer of the way the world is run can see, be the way the world is, that the Bible's way of describing events can't be true.
Anyone would think he was having fun with us. Or he only chooses those who slavishly follow his word despite all the evidence to the contrary, to share heaven with him, that he doesn't want those who use logic and reason and are led away from him. He does call his followers sheep after all.
Or maybe he doesn't exist.
If the true god, creator of all, wrote a book, it would perfectly line with what we know about the way the world is run, it certainly wouldn't talk about unicorns or the earth having a dome over it or insects having four legs or two (or is it seven) of every animal on the planet being fitted comfortably into a boat smaller than a modern-day aircraft carrier. The Bible does. Therefore Biblegod is from the imagination of Bronze Age men who believed such things, given their world-view, were true.
Live with it.

QUICK DEFINITION
You know was Christianity* is?
Christianity is like every other faith that every existed, the gods of which now reside, forgotten, in the graveyard of dead gods. One day, just like the gods of the Aztecs and the Philistines, the Ancient Egyptians and the Armenians, the Hittites, the Chinese and Native Americans, the Intuits, the Phoneticians, the Romans, the Siberians, the god of Christianity will be forgotten. Because Biblegod is just as much an invention of men as the other gods were. All it's beliefs and rituals are just like the beliefs and rituals of ancient man. It's just caught on, it's hanging on.
Don't worry when a Christian fundie tells you if you don't believe with you heart and confess Jesus with your mouth you'll go to hell. You won't. Just like you won't go to Valhalla or the Happy Hunting Ground or cross the Rainbow Bridge to the Isle of Apples** or Omeyocan or Tian or one of the Lokis or anywhere. Like other gods had once, the Christian god has got a hold on the minds of men. Like the other gods, it won't last.
There is no Biblegod, so don't worry about it.
*Before you attack me for not having the guts to attack Islam, well Islam is a spin-off of Christianity, it's a lot younger and unlike Christianity and Judaism hasn't yet matured beyond the childish tantrum stage. Read your history. When Christianity was the same age as Islam, it was crusading and auto-de-fe-ing and killing in the name of belief, with more scope to do so, albeit with less powerful weapons.
**I like that belief. I like it.

ANOTHER PLACE
I'd better alert you to my other blog on the Interwebs. It's called 'ALL THE BEST' and there's a link to it.
This blog is going to be dedicated to my religious rants and my own ideas (that's why it's called 'Jessica's Idea'), while the other one is more generalised, everyday stuff.

OF B&B'S AND BELIEFS
According to Mr Chris Grayling the shadow home secretary, there is nothing wrong with the Christian owner of a bed and breakfast place refusing to allow gay couples to stay under their roof. Secret recordings of his true opinion were made public in the Observer newspaper.
That's right. The party who probably will get in next officially believe there is nothing wrong with blind, thoughtless prejudice so long as it's done by a Christian against gays.
I used to be a Christian, was one for almost a quarter of a century, and I am also an out bisexual.*
Five years ago this coming May, reason and logic helped me giving up on my belief and for the first time since being seventeen I found I could be true to myself. I'm still enjoying the luxury of trying on different ideas and philosophies, of being able to think for myself. But I'm going to try and speak from a true Christian point of view, and say what would Jesus do?
Jesus, probably an invention of men, was said to have said some very radical things. He openly mixed with sinners and scandalised the great and good of his day. Going off this, I'd say Jesus would have allowed a gay couple into his home and served them willingly. He would have gently helped them see their lifestyle was not acceptable, but he would not have refused them room.
So why the superior, holier-than-thou attitude of a certain (female, I'm ashamed to say) B&B owner who turned away a gay couple, Michael Black and John Morgan, in Berkshire? What is Christian about rejecting anyone?
Another point; suppose you get a Christian couple, B&B owners, turning away gays and using this example to preach on the evils of homosexuality. And suppose the beloved child of these owners has just started developing feelings for members of their own sex? Wouldn't that child grow up with a bitter self hatred or hatred of the family, turning away from their faith and going their own way, or ending up a Christian, married and crippled unable to express themselves with repressed feelings for fear of offending the almighty god their parents preached?
What is it with Christians that cause so much division in the name of love?
*This doesn't mean I am a wild swinger going from one sex to another, it means that I can (and have) fallen in love and had relationships with members of both genders.
